Conference Abstract: An Automotive OEM has developed and deployed an improved solution for shot peen masking using the Selective Absorption Fusion (SAF) powder process. Shot peening is a process used to improve the mechanical properties of metal castings and increases their fatigue life. Hundreds of millions of parts are shot peened annually across multiple industries. Creating the masking for certain areas during this process can be slow, expensive and complex. The OEM's engineering team uses additive manufacturing to create custom masking. The SAF technology provides freedom of design, desirable material properties, high throughput and a low cost per part, enabling the printing of over 2800 units a month to help production lines run efficiently and effectively. Join our session to learn how the SAF technology is helping this OEM with its quality mission.
